Harper ISD

Mission Statement

What is the Harper PTO?

To promote the welfare of children in the home, school and community.

To bring into a closer relationship, the home and the school, that parents and teachers may cooperate intelligently in the education of our children.

To develop between educators and the general public, such united efforts as will secure for all children, the highest advantages in academic, physical and social education.

Goals:

1. To provide funds to benefit all students throughout their HISD education.

2. To limit the amount of fund raising events so as to not create a burden on the parents, teachers, and supporters--as well as the students of our District.

3. To provide cost effective fund raising events that allow teachers to concentrate their efforts in the classroom.

4. To distribute funds for educational purposes.

Think Before You Speak! Before you say it, send it, post it, or text it, ask yourself…

Is it True? Is it Helpful? Is it Inspiring? It is Necessary? Is it Kind?

Notice and Appreciate the Nice Things You See and Hear!

Research shows that family involvement promotes student success. Students with involved parents are more likely to

  • Earn higher grades and pass their classes,
  • Attend school regularly and have better social skills,
  • Go on to post-secondary education.

When families, schools, and communities work together,

  • Student achievement improves,
  • Teacher morale rises,
  • Communication increases,
  • Family, school, and community connections multiply.

In The News:

Craig Bystrynski, Editor-in-Chief of PTO Today writes, “The Harper ISD PTO has been selected for honorable mention in the 2014 Parent Group of the Year search the fourth consecutive year. Congratulations, from all of us at PTO Today!”

He goes on to say, “Strong parents play an important role in creating successful schools and improving education for students. That role goes unrecognized far too often. We began the Parent Group of the Year search 12 years ago as a way to celebrate parent groups like yours-groups that are doing great work. ” WAY TO GO PTO!!!
